Can't Believe It's Cotton!

Okay, I bought mine some time ago cicra 2012 - 4 years on travel, 4 wet windy winters later and I have machine washed this perhaps 6 times and used Nik Wax Cotton Proof and I am yet to get wet. We have had torrential downpours here surprising as it is in Adelaide and temps as low as 4c thats 39f and I only wear a polo shirt, wool cap fingerless gloves shorts and this jacket am never cold and always dry. I am a big guy 6'2" and well over 250lb it fits great. I use it daily for about 4-5 months. I will buy another, I do not subscribe to this modern technology nonsense, wool, cotton and am yet to get better gear, dries quickly, does not smell, washes great. It has travel with me to other cities and on hiking trips as the main jacket sometimes with a light sweater if I know its gonna get below zero then a fleece and trousers. The quality of the construction is superb there is nothing wrong, maybe scrap the hood I don't like hoods my wool/possum beanie suffices. I love anoraks and much like someone else said the patches remind me of my Eagle scout troop way back when but i am taking mine off and adding a GB sticker and my Advanced First Aid Badge. I will buy another just in case, probably not red a second time quite like the drab khaki.

Excellent all rounder

I bought this Anorak for general use and for use when I am out in the field taking photographs. I needed breathability, good construction and waterproof with decent pockets. The only colour left in XXL was the Khaki colour, which reminded me of the old Bundeswehr Parkas that were so popular in the 70's & 80's but it transpires that it suits its use in blending in while taking photographs. The cloth badges remind me of oversized Scouting Merit badges...and you may want to remove them. They may look OK on the red version but they are odd looking on the Khaki version.
Construction is superb and looks like it will last a long time and take a lot of abuse. Getting into and out of the jacket is a bit awkward. The cotton material seems to catch on your sweater and pull your sweater off when you remove the Jacket. Once on though it feels superb. Plenty of room to move about but still feels a remarkably close fit. I am 191cm & 100kg.
The product has excellent waterproofing and I think their claim of coping with everything except a complete deluge will stand up. It is remarkably breathable but still retains body heat excellently. I have used this on a chilly day (+6C) in heavy rain wearing just a cotton teeshirt and cotton jumper underneath. Outside I was warm and dry and then spent a good hour inside a well heated building (+20C approx) while still wearing the jacket and I was perfectly comfortable. Also the jacket dried quickly from a combination of my body heat and the heat of the building. The only slight cooling I noticed outside was where the jacket rested on my shoulders. The loose fit around your body seems to trap body heat and allow natural venting preventing overheating. This loose fit also allows you to layer effectively for winter use...but I haven't tried this yet.
I don't think you could use this in Summer time (unless you are in the high mountains) but for Spring and Autumn it is perfect and when used with layers would also be perfect for Winter use.
This jacket far exceeds my expectations and for my money beats GoreTex hands down.
