The Women‘s Ceres SV Parka by Arc‘teryx is one of the warmest jackets the Canadian company have to offer.
The secret of the extraordinary insulating power of this long jacket is the immense filling of about 250 grams (depending on the size) from best quality goose down. By comparison, such an amount is usually used in three-season sleeping bags!
The jackets outer material is very robust and provides a durable protection against icy winds and snowfall. According to the Composite Mapping Principle, the Ceres SV Coat holds either synthetic fiber or down fillings, depending on the body part. Moisture-sensitive zones (shoulders, cuffs, underarm area) are lined with Coreloft continuous filament. The down on the trunk however, is processed in so-called box ventricles.
The jacket has an extended short coat design and as such protects up to the tights against cold and snow. The design is feminine, the width normal. This means a warm midlayer still fits well underneath, but note: the parka does not look extremely casual.
You can pleasantly snuggle up in the cold with a lined hood, fleece pockets and high collar. The large inner insertion pocket provides space for a vacuum flask or gloves. If you need a little more freedom of movement whilst walking, the jacket can also be opened from the bottom. A button on the hem allows the opening of the zip when the hem is closed, so that you can put the tie-in loop of the hip belt through this opening, if the jacket is used as a warm throw over during belaying (ice and mixed climbing).
With the Womens Ceres SV Parka by Arcteryx you can make adjustments and use the pockets while wearing gloves. The long designed jacket is excellent for multipurpose use in cold weather and specially as a warm throw over on mountaineering and wintry climbing.
