Since its entry into the market in 1998, the Alpha SV Jacket (Women's) by Arc'teryx has become a standard for lightweight yet robust Alpine jackets that are compatible for use with climbing harnesses.
This is not only down to its design, but also the constant revisions to the Gore-Tex Pro laminate outer fabric . While the design remained unchanged, the little details and fabric were tweaked to optimize the weight. With plenty of research and development, the Alpha SV was constantly made lighter and more robust. It is the embodiment of a mountain sports jacket with its straight lined cut, the distinctive breast pockets and the technical, helmet-compatible hood. The focus is very clearly on maximum weather protection and the best possible durability with the lowest weight. Comfort is also a high priority as well as a practical design that embodies the whole spectrum of Alpine climbing and mountaineering. That is why every pocket is positioned in such a way, that they can all be accessed when wearing a backpack or climbing harness. The cut of this jacket is wide enough to wear another insulation layer underneath for expeditions in colder temperatures. Aside from that, the special three-dimensional preforming gives it a level of comfort that just has to be tried to be believed!
The current generation of Alpha SV comes with self-sealing zippers (without zipper garages or covers) and cord stoppers integrated into the material that are very easy to use. They also ensure that your jacket will not slide upwards under the climbing harness in the hip area when you stretch out while you climb.
