Product description
You dont necessarily have to decode the name which Arcteryx has chosen for this item, in order to know that the Alpha AR Jacket really is a multi-talented garment for ambitious mountain expeditions.

This hardshell features the scaled-down and utilitarian design characteristic of the Canadians and is also highly recognisable. The straight lines are somewhat broken up by the wear-resistant inserts in the shoulders, which protect those more wear-susceptible areas. In this area the already enormously robust triple-layer laminate is further reinforced against backpacks and rock wear.
With straight seam tapes, intelligent cut and minimalist features, this jacket also features an exceptional weight of 400 grams and equally exceptional packability. It goes without saying that the material is durably waterproof, impressively long lasting and exceptionally breathable even in cold weather.
The cut is preformed and designed to be ideal for layering. A synthetic fibre or down jacket can be worn under this jacket perfectly without affecting the fit. If youre looking for a Hardshell for summer touring, you can opt for a smaller size, otherwise you can wear an additional thick layer underneath for winter touring.
The seam is longer in the back and the hood is attached on the outside of the high collar. The asymmetrical arm cuffs are perfect for wearing over a short softshell glove.

All zippers on the Jacket are virtually waterproof and designed with innovative zips that Arcteryx specially developed with YKK. They close perfectly, without needing a zipper garage. The pockets are designed to be easily accessible and glove-friendly. The same goes for the pit-zips and the tough plastic-front zippers, which wont jam up even in icy conditions.
The helmet-compatible hood has adjustment cords front and back, integrated into the material so they are always accessible, and are designed to be easy to use and glove-friendly. This also applies to the waist drawcord, which prevents the jacket from riding up under a climbing harness, when you stretch up your arms.

With its minimal weight. sophisticated features and construction as well as its distinctive design, the Arcteryx Alpha AR jacket is the perfect, long-lasting companion for all adventures in the mountains - from chalet tours to mixed climbing or high-mountaineering.

Great jacket!!!

Managed to pick mine up in the sale for £215, an absolute bargain!!! I'm 188cm and 100kg (all muscle of course) so I went for the XL. Fits perfectly, great length and good shoulder room. Had my first outing of the British summer with it (late Sept) last weekend, the jacket performed as expected, everything was wet, apart from me. 5 stars!!!
